Lamy - Fountain Pen Nibs
Fine, medium, broad? Oblique or straight? When it comes to nibs there are a number of choices and with good reason: every person's handwriting is different! Lamy offers the perfect nib for every style of writing and every preference. Discover how to find the right one for you in our Lamy Guide.
In principle you can combine your favourite Lamy Fountain pen with any Lamy nib to create your perfect writing instrument. The LAMY 2000 is an exception to this rule as it has its own special nib. Please ask us if you require gold or specialist nibs.
A: Beginners nib is the perfect choice for early writers. It's particularly robust and is equipped with a spherical writing tip. (for example, coming as standard on the ABC fountain pen).
M: Medium is an all round nib suiting most writers which is why it comes as standard on most fountain pens. The secret is the rounded tip - no scratching, no sticking and a line that is neither too thick or too thin.
LH: Left Handed nib is the same as the medium nib but has a small and significant difference in that it is slightly oblique making it ideal for left-handers who frequently tilt their hand when writing.
Otherwise there is F (fine), EF (extra fine), B (broad) and BB (extra broad). When choosing the correct nib width the important thing is the size of your own writing. The smaller the script - the finer the nib should be. A large script however will generally look better with a broader nib.
Joy Nibs: Designed for calligraphy and are cursive/italic nibs. Rather than a ball, they have a straight, flat nib.
Made from high quality, durable, long lasting stainless steel, the LAMY Z 50 nib is suitable for all LAMY Safari, Vista, AL-star and Joy fountain pens. Ensure the longevity of your LAMY fountain pen and integrity of your writing by replacing your nibs as required.
Z53 has a uniquely curved contour and is the characteristic feature of the Aion pen series. The nib is polished and has a soft feel when writing.
